WB’s Judas And The Black Messiah Drops Second Trailer

The timing of the release of the second trailer for Warner Bros. film Judas and the Black Messiah. This film has just been added to the 2021 Sundance Film Festival. It’s expected to be an award season contender. The film is about how FBI informant William O’Neal, played by LaKeith Stanfield, was able to infiltrate the Black Panthers in the late 1960s. Thus also being able to get close to Fred Hampton, chairman of the group, played by Daniel Kaluuya. Check out the trailer below!

Here is the synopsis for Judas and the Black Messiah provided by Warner Bros. Pictures.

FBI informant William O’Neal (LaKeith Stanfield) infiltrates the Illinois Black Panther Party and is tasked with keeping tabs on their charismatic leader, Chairman Fred Hampton (Daniel Kaluuya). A career thief, O’Neal revels in the danger of manipulating both his comrades and his handler, Special Agent Roy Mitchell (Jesse Plemons). Hampton’s political prowess grows just as he’s falling in love with fellow revolutionary Deborah Johnson (Dominique Fishback). Meanwhile, a battle wages for O’Neal’s soul. Will he align with the forces of good? Or subdue Hampton and The Panthers by any means, as FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover (Martin Sheen) commands?

The film is directed by Shaka King, based on a script that he co-wrote with Will Berson. Which is based on a story by King, Berson, Kenny & Keith Lucas. Joining Sanfield and Kaluuya on the film are Jesse Plemons, Dominique Fishback, Ashton Sanders, Martin Sheen, Algee Smith, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Dominique Thorne, Amari Cheatom, Caleb Eberhardt, and Lil Rel Howery.

I am excited to see this film as it is already generating some positive buzz. Stanfield and Kaluuya have been excellent in previous films so we can expect the same with this film. This is part of that massive Warner Bros. line-up that will be hitting theaters on the same day as HBO Max. So most of us will be able to enjoy it from the comforts and safety of our homes.

Warner Bros Pictures’ Judas and the Black Messiah hits theaters and HBO Max for 31 days on February 12th, 2021.
