Star Wars: More Evidence That J.J. Abrams Didn’t Have A Clue How To Bring Back Palpatine

For me, J.J. Abrams didn’t have a clue how to bring back Palpatine in The Rise of Skywalker. Instead Abrams was set on redeeming Ben Solo, and for that he needed Palpatine back. However, the problem was, that Palpatine was dead and had not been mentioned more than once in the previous two movies. It was just a bad idea, that never worked for me in any way.

look, I really disliked The Rise of Skywalker as a standalone movie, but even more as the supposed end of the saga. Looking at the lore and the mythology that runs through the prequels, the originals, and the animated shows, the sequel trilogy doesn’t fit. I could go on all day about why it doesn’t fit, why Abrams never understood the clear path the Jedi Order were on, and much more. However, some new information has surfaced regarding Abrams initial plans. These new details do a pretty good job of showing why Abrams was wrong for Star Wars on their own, so let’s get to it.

Abrams Didn’t Have A Clue How To Bring Back Palpatine

Screen Rant recently went over some details in The Art Of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. This artwork reveals that in the original plan to bring Palpatine back, the former ruler of the Galaxy has actually hiding on Coruscant, not Exegol. Now, I know what you are thinking, isn’t Coruscant a little busy to be a good place for a Sith Lord to hide out. Actually no, because without ever having mentioned Coruscant in the sequels, Abrams was going to have it be an abandoned planet. That’s right, Kylo Ren was to visit Coruscant and find it covered ion ash, with giant Wolves wandering about. Ren was then going to travel deep inside the Jedi Temple (you couldn’t make this up) and there he would find the half alive Palpatine.

Wow, I’m not even going to discuss Palpatine himself here for a moment, that’s another conversation. However, the idea of using Coruscant, and turning it into a ghost world is just….It’s stupid. Coruscant was the central planet of the Republic and the Empire. Coruscant has layers, upon layers of different zones, and must be home to about a trillion residents.

So, Abrams at one point thought audiences would accept this fate for Coruscant. We fans would accept that after we saw Coruscant celebrate the demise of the Emperor in Return of the Jedi, it was somehow destroyed off screen? Coruscant was so badly damaged that all the people had left, and giant wolves were somehow prowling the streets? Further more, fans were to accept the fact that Palpatine was hiding in the Jedi Temple? I mean, wouldn’t Luke have visited said Jedi Temple already? Why was this a good hiding spot for the Emperor? Clearly Abrams only thought here was, “wouldn’t it be cool if we…”

Honestly, I think Abrams greatest ever movie was The Force Awakens and I have many issues with that film. Other than that, I look at all Abrams movies, the shows he was actually involved in ( I mean really involved) and I don’t get it. I don’t get why Abrams is so revered and now powerful enough now to make whatever he wants. I don’t get why Lucasfilm allowed Abrams to throw out all their plans for Episode 7 and start again.

Most certainly, I don’t get why Lucasfilm allowed Abrams to do the exact same thing with Episode 9. “Wouldn’t it be cool if we…” pretty much sums up J.J. Abrams for me. However, it happened, Lucasfilm allowed Abrams to destroy not only their sequel trilogy, but ruin the entire climax of Return of the Jedi to boot. Impressive, I can now see why WB snapped Abrams up for like a billion dollars.

Lets Give Abrams A Shot At Harry Potter?

I have a good idea, why not let Abrams destroy the Harry Potter Universe as well? WB can plan sequels and get author Rowling involved. Then, WB assign Abrams, who then throws out all the plans Rowling created. Now we will get a gritty sequel in which Harry has run away and hidden from the new dark power. Instead, the story will all be about Voldemort’s kid. At the end, Bob Riddle, son of Tom will take on the name Potter, and then bury Harry’s wand under the stairs at 4 Privet Drive. You know, because Harry loved his time under those stairs? What a master plan from the genius that is Abrams, after all, what does Rowling know anyway?

Ok rant is over, but hopefully you can see where my anger comes from. I thought I was over the sequel trilogy and ready to move on to happier times in the Galaxy, far, far away. I guess I’m still angry when something like this artwork comes up. I’m just not completely sure who I am most angry with?

What do you think of this latest Star Wars reveal, am I overreacting? Do you agree with me that Abrams didn’t have a clue how to bring back Palpatine, so he shouldn’t have? Leave your own angry Star Wars rants below.
