Skywalker Academy Trademarked By Lucasfilm – But Don’t Get Too Excited Folks

Star Wars Fans went into a frenzy for a short time yesterday as it was discovered the Skywalker Academy name had been trademarked by Lucasfilm. Personally I saw three typical reactions to this news. The most common was people getting excited that a Luke Skywalker and Grogu series was coming. The next most common response was the folks hoping this was starring Daisy Ridley as Rey Skywalker. Lastly there was the usual small group who said this was more evidence that George Lucas needs to buy back Lucasfilm from evil Disney. Yeah.

Not gonna, lie, when I first saw this social media post below, I started getting wild ideas as well. However before I get you excited when you see this, Skywalker Academy is not as cool as you think.

Sadly, it seems this trademark is simply for clothing line, which no one cares about. Insider Jordan Maison responded below like a hammer blow to the hearts of fans.

Huh, well that's an interesting new #StarWars trademark… Skywalker Academy.

Looks like just for clothing items at the moment, so maybe just for a new line of athletic stuff or something?

Gidammit! Yay, a really cool name for A. Clothing. Line? Brilliant stuff Disney/Lucasfilm!

My only hope is that this, along with the fan reaction to Luke showing up in the finale of The Mandalorian Season 2, gets Lucasfilm talking. I’ve written about this on LRM and I have talked about this on The Cantina with my co-host Kyle Malone many times. A Luke Skywalker series needs to happen. We simply don’t know enough about how Luke went from where he was in The Mandalorian, to where we found him in The Force Awakens.

I concede that a decision would have to made on recasting Luke. Or, alternatively going down an animated route with Hamill voicing the part. Either of these possibilities is a sacrifice I think fans will be willing to make to get more Luke. By the time Andor Season 1 arrives, Cassian will have had more screen time than Luke in Star Wars. Din Djarin I think already has the title of most filmed Star Wars character, though if we also included animated then he doesn’t even make the top 10.

More Luke Skywalker would please me, and Skywalker Academy is a great title. Therefore, it’s a pity Skywalker Academy is being wasted on a clothing line, likely for kids. As always, give us your thoughts below.
