Harley Quinn Season 2 Finale Review

Just like that we have wrapped up season 2 of Harley Quinn on the DC Universe streaming service. Once again the talented voices of Kaley Cuoco, Lake Bell, Alan Tudyk, Ron Funches, J.B. Smoove, Jason Alexander, Jim Rash, Diedrich Bader, Tony Hale, and Christoper Meloni took us on another adventure in Gotham City.

We followed Harley Quinn as she attempted to become the criminal Queenpin of Gotham City along with her crew that consisted of Poison Ivy, Clayface, King Shark, Sy Borgman, and Dr. Psycho. Throughout the season she took out each of the members of the Injustice League. She also managed to make things awkward with her and Ivy after their feelings for one another started coming out. The problem with that was that Ivy didn’t trust Harley and she was also engaged to Kite Man. After some over the top adventures that included being able to defeat the armies of Darkseid, how would we wrap up this season?

Harley Quinn Episode 13: The Runaway Bridesmaid

We find Harley Quinn and some of the other villains back at Arkham. Despite Kite Man finding out about Harley and Ivy, they are making the final preparations for their wedding. After not receiving a Key to Gotham from the Mayor, Commissioner Gordon will stop at nothing to bring down the villains of Gotham to hopefully gain momentum to run for Mayor.

After receiving a guest list from Two-Face, Gordon puts together a task force to take down all the villains that would be at the wedding. Two-Face then turns around and tells this to Harley, who despite the fact that she was feeling down, would not allow someone else to ruin Ivy and Kite Man’s big day.

The wedding turns out to be as nuts and you think it would be. With Ivy first begging Harley to leave. Followed by Harley figuring out that all the wedding help had been replaced with Gordon’s squad. This leads to a confrontation between all the villains and the police. Despite all that, Ivy still tries to marry Kite Man, but he tells her that he deserves better and flies away on his Kite. With Gordon hot on their tail, they jump in a car and make their getaway. At this point they profess their love for each other and seal it with a kiss as the episode comes to a close.

Episode Review

While it was great to finally see them together in a relationship. I thought that this episode was a really weak way to end the season. I felt like after episode 7 when they first kissed, the whole focus of the season shifted to that and the series lost some steam. In my opinion this episode should have come before Harley came face to face with the armies of Apokolips. I feel like her battle with a brainwashed Ivy would have had more meaning.

I thought it was a good season, not great but good. I will say that I was happy with the fact that the Joker wasn’t around too much this season. Also I liked to see Harley’s growth throughout the season as she learns more about what it means to care and love someone. Like I mentioned above I just wish that they would have structured the second half of the season a little differently. I am looking forward to seeing what they have in store for Harley and the crew in a third season.
