Bon Iver’s Manager is Running for Congress

Longtime Bon Iver manager Kyle Frenette is planning to run for Congress. As The Wausau Daily Herald reports, Frenette intends to run for the Democratic nomination for Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional district, a seat currently held by Representative Sean Duffy (R-WI), who has held the seat since 2011. Though he hasn’t formally announced the campaign, Frenette submitted his statement of candidacy to the Federal Election Commission in January. Frenette has managed Bon Iver since 2007 and co-founded his artist management firm Middle West Management in 2010. “This state and this country are in desperate need of better leadership. I haven’t officially announced yet but will be in the next two weeks,” he writes in an out-of-office reply from his Middle West email. The upcoming primary takes place this August 14.

Protesters Crash 2018 BAFTA Film Awards Red Carpet

DANIEL LEAL-OLIVAS/AFP/Getty Images

As celebrities such as Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lawrence as well as Kate Middleton and Prince William arrived at the 2018 BAFTA Film Awards, several members of a feminist protest group crashed the area to stage a political demonstration, prompting police to intervene.

Wearing black and purple tops that read “Times Up Theresa,” about a dozen protesters from Sisters Uncut linked arms and lined up and even lay down on the red carpet at the Royal Albert Hall in London before the ceremony on Sunday. Police eventually moved the group. Police were called and the group soon left. No arrests were made and the protesters made no contact with famous guests.

“Sisters Uncut stormed the BAFTA red carpet to protest [British Prime Minister] Theresa May‘s upcoming Domestic Violence and Abuse Bill, which they say will criminalize survivors while distracting from devastating funding cuts to domestic violence services nationwide,” the group said in a press release, adding that the U.K. leader’s domestic violence policies will leave survivors “locked up in prison, locked out of refuges, and locked in to violent relationships.”

At the BAFTAs, film stars wore black to support the global Time’s Up campaign to stop sexual harassment and inequality in the workplace.

“We are in solidarity with the Time’s Up campaign,” the Sisters Uncut press release quoted protester Ana Kaur as saying. “Like the Alianza Nacional De Campesinas, we recognize that gender-based violence happens everywhere, and that to disclose abuse requires support. As well as calling Time’s Up on individual perpetrators, we have to call Time’s Up on our government for failing to provide us with real options and support.”

Nipsey Hussle ‘Victory Lap’ Album Release Party Halted By Gunfire

Nipsey Hussle’s Victory Lap album release party came to an end by gunfire.

The Crenshaw rapper hosted an album release party for his debut LP Victory Lap at the World On Wheels in LA on Saturday Night. Nipsey Hussle reportedly bought the place last year so naturally, that’s where he would host his grand album release party. Sources say someone started firing shots in the parking lot just before midnight and one person was struck by a bullet and taken to the Cedar-Sinai Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition.

Cops were quick on the scene but the shooter got away by the time they arrived, TMZ reported. The victim also refused to cooperate with officers leaving them without a clue about what went down. Partygoers thought that it was another mass shooting incident underway and some of them sound off on Twitter saying that everyone panicked. World On Wheels is an iconic roller rink located in Venice, Los Angeles. Nipsey Hussle helped the place get back up last year when he invested his personal money into it.

Watch Arcade Fire’s Win Butler Sing His Own Song at Karaoke

After leading Team Clippers to victory at the the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game on Friday, Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler surprised fans with an impromptu karaoke performance of the band’s 2007 track “Intervention” at a bar in Los Angeles. Few things are as cringe-inducing as performing your own song at karaoke, and Butler seems noticeably uneasy, wandering around the bar’s patio area in an attempt to break the awkwardness. Watch a clip of the performance below via Arcade Fire Tube.

So, uh, Win Butler just casually dropped by some karaoke spot in Little Tokyo (Los Angeles) last night. I’m guessing he maybe noticed they had “Intervention” on their repertoire and couldn’t resist, or something.

Chuck Strangers – Style Wars (feat. Joey Bada$$)

[Verse 1: Chuck Strangers]
I wanna thank god for this vibe
I’m just layed up high
Thinking fuck a job I’ll rather boss up on somethin’ I believe in
Sonic aesthetically pleasing
Niggas claiming they the best while Rakim still breathin’
Do your Googles nigga I’m in control of things
God and I move together is two
Manifesting a move steady reppin’ the crew
We warriors with the rhymin’
Shouts to Oakland but the warriors from Coney Island
On them rooftops lit one up for 2Pac
Because this is murder rap
Think how quick we grew up low key insane
My best friend she snort cane guess life is like a dice game
Should I risk it with the biscuit that’s when the cops came
The dynamic of my whole block changed
Yo it’s a John Stark
New York mentality
Faded and miseducated 24 years and made it
Now niggas can express they selves
Times I need to be alone
Turn off the MP shut off my phone and just zone
I think of home when I need to be strong
Been rollin’ up no more hittin’ the bong
It’s different phases I’m on when I be writin’ these songs
You can have my heart sing the tales of the light
That the dark run the dark sing painting prosperity
Chopped and new shipment now I got all my equipment
So now I’m plottin’ on some necklaces
Mercedes or the Lexus shit
You can see it in my eyes I got nigga rich endeavours
They gon’ try to hide and make it sound clever
While a metronome tick like a fake Rolex
I wonderin’ who owns next
I just wanna fuck you
Singin’ ass bitch don’t take the curve personal
I’m just tryin’ not to work with you
I’mma be stuntin’ on all the lame niggas who pass me

JOY. – Change

That look on me’s everlasting
Please look sorry don’t have the answers on it
Never thought that I’d be where I am today
Never thought that I’d see who I am today

Fading on the floor with all my thoughts
All I ever do is watch the leads
I keep running back to you
I don’t know what for
I just cannot seem to find my peace

And still I’m waiting, I’m waiting, I’m waiting
But you never came
And still I’m waiting, I’m waiting, my mistake
Oh you’ll never change
Oh the shame, oh the shame, I’m the only one
I’ve got to blame
I’m a fool for your love, I’m afraid because
You’ll never change

I wrote, I wrote a letter to you
I’ll never send
Oh what, oh what a feeling to know I’m not healing

And still I’m waiting, I’m waiting, I’m waiting
But you never came
And still I’m waiting, I’m waiting, my mistake
Oh you’ll never change
Oh the shame, oh the shame, I’m the only one
I’ve got to blame
I’m a fool for your love, I’m afraid because
You’ll never change

Kim Petras – Heart to Break

[Verse 1]
Any time, that you like
Gonna give you my heart to break
Angel eyes, tell me lies
Gonna give you my heart to break

[Pre-Chorus]
One look at you, I’m powerless
I feel my body saying yes
Where’s my self control?
And when you touch me, I’m a fool
This game I know I’m gonna lose
Makes me want you more

[Chorus]
Even if it means that I’ll never put myself back together
Gonna give you my heart to break
Even if I’ll end up in shatters, baby it doesn’t matter
Gonna give you my heart to break
I tried to fight, but I can’t help it
Don’t care if this is my worst mistake
‘Cause no one else could do it better
That’s why I give you my heart to break

[Verse 2]
Butterflies, every time
Gonna give you my heart to break
Devilish, every kiss
Gonna give you my heart to break

[Pre-Chorus]
One look at you, I’m powerless
I feel my body saying yes
Where’s my self control? (Ahh)
And when you touch me, I’m a fool
This game I know I’m gonna lose
Makes me want you more

[Chorus]
Even if it means that I’ll never put myself back together
Gonna give you my heart to break
Even if I’ll end up in shatters, baby it doesn’t matter
Gonna give you my heart to break
I tried to fight, but I can’t help it
Don’t care if this is my worst mistake (No)
‘Cause no one else could do it better (No one else, better, that’s why I)
That’s why I give you my heart to break

[Bridge]

Diplo – Look Back (feat. DRAM)

[Verse 1: DRAM]
Zoning on the road
Not nowhere to go
But I ain’t looking back
I ain’t going back to that
Looking down on the cloth
Out of this world I know
Somehow try to breath
Baby

[Chorus: DRAM]
And I haven’t look back
Since I made up my mind
To never look behind, no
And I haven’t look back, uh
For a very long time
I don’t I don’t see myself flickin’ back, fireman
Losing minds cause I’m only looking for a name

[Verse 2: DRAM]
Would futures tell
I’m still moving forward
Even though I don’t know where to go
You gotta know I ain’t never looking back for ya
Cause you remind me of the struggle
That I had to come from under
I used to have to use my muscle
Gotta be strong living this life right or wrong
Cause this life is very rude to me
Is related for to you
Seeing light, such a difficult task
Look to me, I was just staying true
You dream am I too true to you
Trying to relieve the pain that we undo
Give you the moment if you’re still my girl
[?]

[Chorus: DRAM]
And I haven’t look back, uh
Since I made up my mind
To never look behind, no
And I haven’t look back
For a very long time, uh
For a very long time
